As part of Janet's involvement with pet resucue, we agreed to foster three kittens and a three year old cat. The three kittens had a blast in the house, and Mogul kept his distance while Belle was her typical self and rolled with the punches. The kittens were adopted fairly quickly as one might imagine as they were cute as the dickens; the older cat was very quiet and very shy. This was Carmen. Once the kittens were gone, she settled in a bit. After some prodding from the group's founder and president, we agreed to foster Carmen's sister Nyla. I'm sure we were set up, as we ended up adopting both on March 19th, 2004.
Carmen is the quietest of the three cats. She prefers her dry food to any canned food. While she is generally very quiet, she makes her needs known when someone comes upstairs near the laundry room (where the food dishes are). When you talk to her or pet her, she has the "airy-est" meow. She almost sounds breathless when she meows. She is still a bit stand-off-ish -- Amanda is the only one that can hold her without her struggling to get away.
