As Belle began to age, we had the same concerns we had when Kaiser and Mitter started to show signs of slowing down -- she needed companionship. We both agreed on some basic requirements -- we wanted a Dobie, he or she had to be red (to avoid unfair comparisions to Kaiser and Mitter), and we didn't want a puppy. After much searching, we found Cedrick through Doberman Rescue of the Triad. Cedrick was being fostered by a wonderful family not far from Amanda's barn, so we were able to visit him a number of times to make sure things would work out. They did -- we brought Cedrick home around Easter.

Cedrick is 2 1/2, but still quite the puppy -- maybe more than we had originally hoped for, but his zest for life and enjoyment of the simple things is just extraordinary to watch! He has bonded quite closely to Janet and follows here everywhere she goes. And should she leave the house for more than just a few moments, the "Welcome Back!" dance is something to behold.
