At least I know how we ended up with Frosty -- as a companion for Peanut. Janet was talking about getting a friend for Peanut when she discovered that the NCSU Vet School adopts out ferrets they use in their exotics program. Well, Frosty came to live with us on December 16th, 2003.
We kid that Frosty never read the Ferret Manual -- the one that says ferrets sleep 16 hours a day. We swear that he never sleeps (Peanut, on the other hand, sleeps a lot). He's like the Energizer Bunny -- he keeps going and going and going ... We have nicknamed The Wide Body and Double Wide as he is much thicker and solidly built than Peanut.
Like Peanut, he enjoyed tormenting Belle, nipping at her heels as she tried to avoid him. All in all, she was pretty understanding and put up with a lot from him. She would growl at him when she's had enough or try to escape him by getting on the bed, but that generally didn't work as he climbed up right after her.
